Dumb Weight

There is one thing that is very, very important. Well, there are lots of things, but this one is more so than others, right now at least.

When aspiring to be the big bad photography person, please have with you at all times (1) at least two batteries, one in your camera, one fully charged back up in your bag, and (2) a handy-dandy battery charger in said bag.

One other thing they should mention...in an action packed week with lots of picture taking, check that the fully charged backup in your bag, is indeed fully charged! And maybe check it the night before the coolest road trip to the coolest science museum and the coolest market for coolest foods.

Anyway, I was able to take two pictures with my "fully-charged back-up battery."

They came out nice, but that doesn't really reduce the annoyedness...It's a dinosaur, that demonstrates the effect of weight/counter-weight. Cool.

Late Last Night...

Big Toe Truck
Words and Music By: Joe & Linda Scruggs

A big toe truck came to town
to pull some people toes around,
with a nick nack paddy wack, I would like to know,
how it feels when a truck is pulling your toe.

A yellow fork lift came to town
to move some knives and forks around
with a nick nack paddy wack,
wouldn't it be neat
if I had a fork lift to help me eat?

A pickup truck came to town
to pick up trash off of the graound
with a nick nack paddy wack
a dust pan and a broom
a pickup truck could clean my room.

Wiggle In My Toe
Words and Music By: Joe & Linda Scruggs

There's a wiggle in my toe,
Teacher don't you know,
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I wanted you to know,
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my toe.

Now there's a wiggle in my feet,
And I think I should repeat
That I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I know that it's not neat.
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my seat,
And just like my feet
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I know that it's not neat,
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my knee,
And it sure bothers me.
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I hope that you see
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my knee,
And in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my tummy,
And it's not very funny.
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
I even tried a little honey.
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my tummy,
And in my knee,
And in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my arm,
And it's doing me no harm.
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I hope you're not alarmed.
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my arm,
And in my tummy,
And in my knee,
And in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my hand,
And it's nothing that I planned.
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
And I hope you understand.
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my hand,
And in my arm,
And in my tummy,
And in my knee,
And in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my head,
And it's something that I dread.
I'd love to stop the wiggle
'Cause it makes me want to giggle.
I've done everything I can,
I even tried a nap in bed.
I just can't stop
The wiggle in my head,
And in my hand,
And in my arm,
And in my tummy,
And in my knee,
And in my seat,
And in my feet,
And in my toe.
OH, NO!

Now there's a wiggle in my hair
And I think that I'll stop there...

This is just a sampling of the music and amazing abilities of Joe Scruggs. As a child we would listen to the tape we had over and over and over.
I recently went looking for them to see if I could figure out if the music was still around. I found ALL of his music is available on CD. YAY!

My very good and wonderful friend bought me the CD "Late last night" for my birthday.

All hail Queen Esther.

Pup Introspection

~~~~~
Please ignore this post. I am merely sending it out into the void.
Hi, Void...
~~~~~
Introspection

Now it is true, and I’ll admit it, that it is an attractive option. The problem is I am not even convinced it is an option for me, right now or ever. As a matter of fact, none of the options around me are viable in any large capacity, at least that I can see or in the near future. So with the non-options around me, am I missing an option lurking right on the edge of my perception? Is there one standing there, lonely and looking in my direction, that my current situation is drowning out with its clamor? Lately the choices in my life are haunting me with their very variety. What will you do? Which will you choose? Which direction will you take and what path will you send your feet down, though lonely or thronged with crowds? I’m in a mood. It is dangerous in that if the options were alive and observant, they could and would take advantage of the fact and seize control of a life that is drifting, and anchored to so few things. Though the strength of my anchors is unsurpassable, it is my connecting lines that would worry me. My God and my family are strong, but how strong am I? At what point do you make the choice, though not sure of the wisdom thereof, and merely continue on with the chosen path, no matter the resulting chaos? Or does wisdom lie in inaction? Not making the choice, when all options appeal, and therefore none are clearly the best choice. Or is there a choice made when you make no choice? Is there any wisdom in just sitting quietly and allowing one’s-self to absorb the possibilities? Or can that perchance become escapism? An avoidance technique perfected? And how enduring are the choices and opportunities going to be? Eventually will there not be a time when the doors close and the opportunities fade into oblivion from inattention? Situations change and people move away as time trundles on its way. When is waiting no longer the wisest choice in the short time span of a life? A life spent waiting soon becomes a life un-lived. A life wasted. Are we wasting our lives in inaction?

I have just wasted a lot of time typing about it to avoid the doing and choosing. I just spent a lot of time worrying about “I.” I even typed it a lot of times. Introspection is another term for selfishness…

I don't know why, but it does. If you save a draft, it will only post under that date, no matter how many days later you go back and post it. So, to facilitate easy reading...here you go.

Messy Mentality

Arg! The intelligence level of most of the conversations around here is thoroughly aggravating. Within the space of two minutes I heard two discussions on 1) The time till discovery if you died in bed versus the shower, and 2) The advisability of addressing inanimate objects and whether or not they minded.
Now admittedly, I ain't the brightest, but I REALLY miss my family, and the deep, crazy, high level, quantum physics, theology, society, etc, etc, etc, debates we are always having. No arguing merely for argue sake, but rather hashing and rehashing ideas and conclusions until we are forced to come out of our preconceived, self confined world and let our mind grow enough to agree to disagree.

*Sigh

Hark! I hear footprints!

"Come, let us pussy-foot." -Babes in Toyland

(You know, it just occurred to me...there are two sets going and one coming. Does that mean I need to keep my eyes peeled for where they hid the body? Hhmmmm, I think I should join NCIS. I am so good. Like Sherlock-ish even. OK, so I am just good at jumping to conclusions, but they give prizes for long jumps, don't they?)

In case you can't tell, it says "Close encounters of the penguin kind." I think I have had some of those.
~~~~~~
" Winter snow is falling......something blah blah is calling." (I don't know that song.)
~~~~~~

We need a sign; "Watch for ice on bridge." Although it is much slipperier now that they have salted and such.

~~~~~~
A study in...well, there isn't really a word for it. Paper maiche that has gotten way out of hand, maybe.
(It's the side of the Stable/cave prop in the middle of the stage. I am on the VERY end, {as in I am going to have to iron a crease in my shoes if I stand there very long.} so get to see it in lots of different cool lighting.
Yes, I was singing too. How could you even ask me that? I am so offended.
Imagine That!
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
Paranoids are people, too. They have their own problems. It's easy to criticize, but if everybody hated you, you'd be paranoid too.
Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.
Top Ten ways the Bible would be different if written by college students:
10. Last Supper would have been eaten the next morning - cold.
9. The Ten Commandments are actually only five...double-spaced and written in a large font.
8. New edition every two years in order to limit reselling.
7. Forbidden fruit would've been eaten not because it was forbidden, but because it wasn't cafeteria food.
6. Paul's letter to the Romans becomes: Paul's e-mail to abuse@romans.gov.
5. Reason Cain killed Abel: They were roommates.
4. The place where the end of the world occurs: Finals, not Armageddon.
3. Out go the mules, in come the mountain bikes.
2. Reason why Moses and followers walked in desert for 40 years: The didn't want to ask directions and look like Freshmen.
1. Instead of God creating the world in six days and resting on the seventh, He would have put it off until the night before it's due and then pulled an all-nighter.
So what's up with life lately, anyhow? There has to be a cosmic struggle going on somewhere in the universe for us to be getting these kind of shock waves.
Um...How offended should I be if one of my closest friends was recently accused of being a figment of my imagination? Or Should he be offended? Not that I am going to tell him, but still. That had to have been one of the most startling and odd things that has ever been said to me. I should have hit her and gotten it over with.
Revolving Reflections on Riverfront
~~~~~~
I got a 100% on a test yesterday. (Plus 5 points "for thanksgiving." Go figure.) Whoop, whoop. It was OT Lit, which is in no way a hard class, but I am still happy, happy. In the grand scheme of things what real difference does it make? But who wants to look at the grand scheme? How depressing is that? Woot, woot, wootwoot! *Dances about on her chair...which is a rolling desk chair...so crashes to the floor in a pile of pain...Jumps up and continues dancing...just on safer surfaces this time.*

~~~~~~
Right, so for the third paper in English Comp we had to analyze a building and tell of the "Subtle Rhetoric" at work on the viewer. I chose the funky cool Revolving Riverview Restaurant. Had most of my paper written with out visiting, but E and I took last evening and went up there to get pics and further jump start my half dead intellect. After eating at the school, (Hamburgers. High class, that.) to avoid the high-priced fancy feast available there, we left to go on our research foray. Arriving at about six something, we were able to avoid the early dinner crowd and beat the romantic, later dining crowd. Entering the wrong door at first, we finally made our way to the lobby, then the on up to the eighteenth floor, where resided the restaurant. As we stepped off the elevator, we were startled to here a star trek-ish female voice announcing our arrival at our floor. We exited the fancy wood paneled elevator to be greeted by a lady and a gentleman in dress formal attire. "Two please," any reservations? "Uh, no." Follow me please. (I had half expected a "Walk this way.") Up a few steps to the main floor of the restaurant, set on a freely revolving platform. The inner kitchen/elevator/bar area, and the outer windows/walls/ do not revolve. After walking what felt to be a mile of fancy tables, she finally seated us at a two person, (wide-ish) window table. Placing leather covered, (though somewhat dirty,) menus and an extensive wine list on the table, she left us to enjoy the view. And what a view. Night, right across the river from downtown Cincy, with all the lights ablaze and post rush hour traffic making a picturesque blur across the bridges. Reflection on the water, with a low, light cloud covering bouncing back the light pollution to create a "day lit" night. Slow revolutions bring to view the traditional Cincinnati skyline, the new groundbreaking and unusual buildings Ky has chosen to allow in its own unique style, the shimmering lights of houses on the seven hills surrounding the Cincy valley, the obnoxious glare of sports bars and gambling spots, the seldom appreciated order of cars on a freeway.
After a few minutes of examining and discussing the interesting menu options, we told the waitress, (who was somewhat disgusted) that we merely wanted dessert. Our thought process was to split the cost and dish, and in this way not send ourselves to the poorhouse. We spent way too long laughing and mocking the odd, fancy treats available for, get this, seven dollars each. We finally decided the only thing we could bring ourselves to spend that much on was the Creme Brulee, the other options being merely fancy kinds of cake. Plus we had neither one of us had it and wanted to be able to say we had. A LONG time later it came to the table, suitably impressive.
I thought it should have cracked when tapped with a spoon, but there is a high possibility that is just something I have made up in my crazy mind. It didn't. But the taste was incredibly addicting. We were satisfied. I would pronounce it a very successful dessert. After ingesting that much sugar and reasonably sure the coffee would be complementary at a high price restaurant, we decided to get a couple of cups to extend our sitting time and bring us back from the carbohydrate induced coma we were exhibiting. "Sure, I'll just add it to this check." Oh, man.
Cut to- a considerable time later and two fancy(if tiny) porcelain cups placed on our table. Cool, sure, fine, whatever...What do you mean two fifty a cup? OK, it's alright, I won't say anything. "Sure cream and sugar would be great, thank you."
Cut to- a cute little silver cream pitcher and...sugar packets. Finely and carefully doctored cup of coffee proceeds to the mouth...*gag*cough*swallow*gag*...No, it's fine.
We finished our...coffee...and left, stopping by the restrooms to "see if they are fancy." They weren't. Nuff said.
Got back on the elevator. "I know, accidentally hit a floor button so we can see how they are decorated." No, it wasn't my idea. But we did it. It was nice, but I think we both jumped like we were guilty of something when the voice announced the floor in our ears. Got back on the elevator and travelled to the Lobby ("lobby, lobby, lobby") to walk around taking cool pics of doorways...
And ships...
And Hallways...
And other stuff...
then we went out side to get pics from the bottom. But it was too dark. Ignoring the suggestions to take a picture of the bellboys and valets standing around the door, I attempted but they didn't come out very good at all.... Too dark. (I think I said that) So then in the midst of leaving there, my driver became shockingly appalled that I had never been to Newport on the Levee and insisted we make a trip. I am such a nice person, I agreed...to make sure she didn't cry...... This is from the riverfront. I am very proud of this picture. Beautiful!...The Christmas decor was already all up in the square...
We went into the mall-ish thing place to show me where Game-Works is...... Then into Barnes and Noble...to fritter a few hours on silly stuff like this...And this...
And, unfortunately, this...
Lots of fun, then off to home (commonly known as school) to get back in time for curfew.
A fish...
A tree...
A lamp...
A stairs...
A close-up...
I was so glad that we went, now if only I could write a paper...naw, UN-necessary.
