Foose? Foos? Foosh?

This guy would not stay out of the picture. I was trying to get a cool action shot of the ball in play and the glory seeker won't stay outta the way!

Hay Rides n Horses

So the evening of the seventeenth, in honor of the great and powerful Lady Anne's birthday, the school held a hayride and cookout at a local farm.(Not really, it was just the all school annual Hayride. But it sounds much better like that.)
Here are a few select highlights of the evening. (More commonly known as "The pictures that came out not looking too terrible")
Waiting, waiting and more waiting.
Some kind of weird people hanging around outside my building.
S.T. and D.P.

I have no idea, so don't even ask me.
They were in the back seat and somehow got hold of my camera.

Here pretty kitty!
(It was almost as ugly as the cat my mother labeled "Ugly as sin")
D.P.

The main attraction- Food, of course.

Well, some of us are here by choice...others seem
to think they are going to be burnt at the bonfire!
S.W., S.W., and M.P.

Heap big Chief Funnylookin.
T.T., M.A.

Weird and wacko friendlies.
L.M., J.S., K.B.Ooh yummy fire! More fire...

Standing in line for the feedin' trough.

More crazy wacko friends. I don't think there is room for the couple stick!
Distance! I demand Distance!
Moonlight and Christmas Lights on the fishpond.
They finally locked her up. Are we even surprised?
Yet they let this run loose? Go figure! Get 'em Ash, get 'em!
You have a perfect opening, he ain't looking!
A.W., J.T.

And a fitting end to a comfortable day...a glorious sunset.

Gas Valves and Firemen

Right, so one morning the girls dorm was greeted by the strong smell of rotten eggs when they got up. All of the girls, being girls, were complaining of headaches and dizziness and marveling that it went away once they went outside. With my upbringing, I knew immediately what it was and advised any one who was complaining (near me) to just stay outside. But me being the quite, UN-assuming person that I am (right) didn't say anything to the hassled and running around dean staff. The guy from the gas company finally got there and went around with his cool, metal-detector-looking gas gauge thingy. After a couple of minutes with that thang there was a general evacuation and calling of city emergency services. Luckily, I was around with a camera. It must have been my Spidey sense.
Taken while waiting for the good shots to materialize.
Not something you see in front of the music studio every day.

Waiting... 1) to get back in the dorm,
or 2) for it to explode in a cool fire ball and school to be canceled.

Even more waiting...

Our heroes...they can manhandle a fan into position.
That's right, a fan. Gotta call the firemen for fan operation.
They really went all out...Cool suits and everything.
Sorry J, they didn't have time to give me their numbers for you.
Plus they were all to old and fat for you.

After all of this..... a kid had turned on the gas valve to the fireplace. Yep, that's it. I am fairly certain the fire people were somewhat put out about it. They ran a fan in the doorway for a few hours and that is about it. Three or four firetrucks, a score of firefighters, several Duke energy trucks and workers and a city fire Chief later. *Chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.*

Home-A-Wenting

Ah, homecoming. The strange and unusual happenings associated with this event are far too numerous (and odd) to fit on the Internet. Therefore, to save space for all those unimportant OTHER websites, I will merely highlight the least odd. (Well, no they are still pretty odd.)

Starting with the human incarnation of the fictional (green) character of Gumby:

...plus a cream pie.

Not this one, I made this one. It was too good to waste on a face.

And it was chocolate. Yay.

This was the other I made...

Except it wasn't a pie so much as a cake. No, it was a pie. Who decided that a cheeseCAKE was not a pie? Although it would be a little disturbing to have to say I made a cheese pie.

This was the Ministerial booth, we actioned off pies.
Hence the above pictures of pies.(In various forms.)

M. and V. in the missions(I think) booth. Aren't they lovely?

This was the other booth I was associated with. Collage Freshman. You could pay to put someone in jail, but to get out they had to...

sing a Veggietales song!
Such a good soul singer like K.B. had no problem getting into the Cheeseburger song, and very well performed, I might add.

This portrayal of the same song just didn't have the same quality to it. I am sure this performer has great potential, it is just VERY untapped. :)
N.G.

On the other hand, there are some things that GBS quartet members just should not attempt...Like "The Hairbrush Song." I still am not fully recovered from that...above average volume...rendition of a song not meant for anyone but a Cucumber to sing.
D.D., N.P., J.H., and an unnamed person.

These guys, however, were very listen-to-able.
J.P. and M.M.

And very energetic.

The winning booth. (It was High School Seniors, I think)

I'm tellin' you, there is no accounting for the effect that homecoming has on some people.
J.B.

Like her^
S.W.

This was Shan's booth, the High School Freshmen.

And her, very diligently cleaning up after it.
S.T.

V and E, way too into their cups I think.

And yet another odd entity I encountered at this festival of oddness.
T.B. (Wow, hope she doesn't read my post. She's a mean one.)

Library workers unite! She is odd too, but it's alright because I'm her boss, so I'll help straiten her out!
L.M.

Yeah...No help for this one though.
D.P.

This one either, actually. And yet we send him out to promote the school. Oy.
A.M. and D.D.

"Money, money, money by the pound!"
S.R.

Oddness is one thing, but is there really an excuse for a facial expression like that?
R.C.

And there went Homecoming. It was...a learning experience. In the same way that sticking your finger in a power outlet is. Fun yet frightening.

"He seemed like a walking blasphemy..."

-G.K. Chesterton, "The Man Who Was Thursday"

A Wedding Lark

Lazy Phil, S, V, E, Pugsby, and I all travelled many an arduous mile to attend the wedding of the late A.T. We arrived to be greeted by a somewhat flustered looking Groom, as he had left the licence forty some odd miles back down the road. (I was mocking him under my breath.)
We were sure that the Oklahoma car wasn't going to make it on time, due to a pair of previously ripped, sown with a paperclip, worn through a choir tour pants being packed instead of the full pair. But after stopping at a grocery store, yep, grocery store and buying new ones, arriving at the church in jeans and running to change...they barely made it.
Of course the church had to be all candlelit, so that every one could take the worst, grainiest pictures possible. But it looked nice...
Till we had to ruin it by putting that^ up front. :)
The least blurry of the blurry ceremony pics.
Someones camera flashed at the precise moment I took the picture. Couldn't do that again if I tried. Lighting the Unity candle.
The Bride and Groom personally dismissed the pews one at a time. This one you can actually see her a little. (I think I shouldn't go hire myself out as a wedding photographer just yet. Then again, could have been the camera.)
The entire route to the reception was covered in these bright neon green signs advertising, of all things, a divorce sale. Now I have heard of movin' sales and estate sales, but this was a first. And a little ironic. Good thing we don't believe in luck.
Wow, don't they just think they are cute.
V kinda looks like he is wearing white gloves. Must be his Micky Mouse sailor suit.
(If you look close, you can tell the pants don't match!)And no, there are no comments forthcoming about the dead cat, I mean beard.

Wow, aren't they cute? Well, I think so. (No silly, I was talking about the cars.)
The reception was very Fall themed. Unusual, but well executed. Apple Cider, hot and chilled, Kettle corn, Cut apples with caramel in a fondue fountain, Bread soup bowls with choice of tomato basil, or potato soup in them, Various finger foods, veggies and such. (I just made myself hungry!) Decor, obviously, was corn stalks and pumpkins and such.
This is the way my doofus brother addresses a wedding card. Miss Manners, He ain't. The back was covered with things like "Time sensitive material", "This side up!"(pointing to every edge), "Fragile!" and on and on.
The tables were purty too, but I mainly liked playing with the sparklies.
After leaving the church and sending LazyPhil and S to careen back toward Oklahoma at what I am sure were not safe speeds, to reach OKC for church sun morning, The rest of us calmly started back toward town. Calmly enough to even stop at Cracker Barrel. (*Sigh* I'm hungry.) Yes it was cold in there. And she still got a Hot fudge sundae. (Really, really hungry.)
