The Perception Revelation!

I realized something about myself yesterday.
Sitting in the library, no patrons for the last twenty minutes or more, quiet as a tomb, I realized I didn't feel alone. There was a presence, or rather hundreds of presences, that were there pushing against the back of my consciousness, keeping me company. Not in a freaky, ghost library, horror movie way, but as a comforting, caring entity.

I've discovered I do not think of books as things.

They aren't people of course, but they are most defiantly not objects either. They have a non-sentient essence. I often wonder at the fact that other people don't seem to have the same fondness for reading that I do, but now I am seeing that to me they are real, they are friends. I am amazed to discover this about myself.

Now that I am seeing this so clearly, I wonder if this is why growing up I always had books, books, and more books. I didn't have a lonely childhood, (with that many people running around how could you?) but I didn't have an overfull one either. I wonder now how much this view of books helped me in that?

I wonder if anyone else feels this way?

Or if this just proof I am as odd as I knew I was anyway...

The Annuls of Pain

"The tendrils of pain claw at me,
pulling me down,
trying to immerse me again.
The burn and ache pull on my  conscious thoughts,
hindering coherent ideas from forming.
As my thoughts try to focus,
the hammers beat on the anvil of my mind with a deafening clamour.
The pain snakes along my nerves with the speed of lightening,
leaving the endings to quiver and curl in residual agony.
My senses are on over-stimulated high alert,
making the everyday noises and sensations an addition to the sea of pain.
The soft brush of cool air over a cheek,
now takes on the burn of a red-hot iron rod pressed against my face.
The pleasant murmur of coughs and movement
now presses against my inner ear with the strength of a vise,
causing vibrations across the ear drum that beat on my mind from the outside.
The illumination that is a distinguishing aspect of our race,
is now the very thing that causes violent withdrawal from the contact.
As an amputee feels the nerves of his lost limb,
so my teeth make themselves known
with aches and twinges of remembered agony.
The muscles of my face tell me with loud voices
of the terror that has been inflicted on their tender surfaces."

Never Get Away!

This makes me think of a song my dear sweet brothers would write...

Hmm...Battle Droids!

I did draw the cabin and the loverly mountian setting, but the battle droids were added by one of the boys I was babysitting. He said I needed to protect my house.

Glad he told me, cause I didn't even know I needed them, much less how to draw them. He is 5, and did a very good job of it.
