Sleep is Good, I think

Every wondered if you could describe the process of sleep intelligently? I never really thought of it, but it is now one of the countless useless and pointless facts in my cluttered up brain.

"Sleep (slep) a period of rest for the body and mind, during which volition and consciousness are in abeyance and bodily functions are partially suspended; also described as a behavioral state, with characteristic immobile posture and diminished but readily reversible sensitivity to external stimuli."

For My Mother...

Yes, I know, she is mad at us for going without her, but I am a good daughter, so I will show her the pictures any way.

~~~~~~
The Booth Brothers:
Ronnie
Michael
Scott?
Yes, he is relatively new. The older fellow was their father but had to stop traveling with them a while back due to ill health.
We found they were going to be close by so I bullied various people into 1. Loaning me their car, (Thank you ma'am!) and 2. Driving us up there. (Yay my brother!) The concert was great, the pastor of the Baptist Temple was scary and odd, (Sorry, I just am not interested in seeing a squat, fifty-ish, hairy dude dancing across the stage. Not something that made it onto the list of things to do before I die.), their music has improved even in the last few years since I have renewed my listening, and the hilarity of the strange and unusual people that went with or met us there was unsettling.
~~~~~~

I really like this one. Love the way it turned out that you can see both of them in a row.

Then three in a row.Then two in a row again.

~~~~~~
High Points of the Evening:
  1. Michael's solo. Can't deny the unique beauty of a tenor solo.
  2. T2 and M.P. head banging to a simi-upbeat southern gospel song.
  3. Ronnie Booth missing his cue and completely cracking up after seeing T2 and his cronies head banging. Then saying, "Yeah, there ya go!" in response.
  4. Ronnie Booth saying "Sure you can get a picture to send to your mom," and "Where's she at?" and "We wish she had been able to come when we were in Yukon," and various other nice things to her through me. (Are you taking notes, Motn?)
  5. Them offering a picture with Tony after I had opted out of one with me.
  6. T2 all manfully going up to shake their hands and get the pic, but saying something like "Good job, I like your music, been listening to it since I was a kid." Ronnie responding with "Since you were a kid? Makes me feel old!" Which caused all of them to bust out laughing, which made for a perfect candid shot.
    Then Michael turned to T2 and said "How old are you anyway?" just as I snapped this one. They were all cracked up.
It was a very, very good night. T2 and I both needed it. We hadn't had a just us time in a while.
(Even though it made my Mommy mad at me for a while. ♥I wuv you anyways!♥)
SNOW DAY?
Yep, that's right, it a snow day. In Ohio, no less. Where they should be used to snow by now. Surely. I don't know, maybe I am expecting too much from these yankees.
Anyway, three tests that were supposed to be today are not. Although Dr.APBrown is too cool for words. All these kids thought they were getting out of it just because of a little snow and he just sent out an email that it would "be online and they had to take it by five." He is way too cool for words. At least I don't feel like all my of study was futile. Some was though.*sigh
Now it's just icky out and raining to boot. Silly, silly wheatherman. Well, come to think of it, maybe it isn't raining, maybe the sky just got iced over and is now melting. Cool, the new ice cap!
It really does look odd, though. Kind of like wet flour all over the ground.
Not a fit day out for Man nor Beast...
It' s cold. Really really really really cold. Like bone breakingly cold. Like I stepped out the door and my shinbone snapped. Ok, slight exaggeration. But it is cold. Really, really.... moving on.
My fingers are too cold to type. The sky is a great lowering mass of gray drudgery slowly advancing towards all those who dare be cheerful on such a day. (Hey, cool sentence!) I look out the window and the birds are so cold they are walking instead of flying. The squirrels are using space heaters in the bushes. The slugs are solid little ice cubes. (Do slugs freeze? Cool thought. We could play marbles with frozen slugs.) The (what other animals do they have in this non-country place?) dogs aren't barking because the 70-below-zero temperatures immobilized their voice boxes. (It was 16 degrees last night when I got back to the dorm. It was only 8pm or so too. Now it is 13, but feels like 6.) The sun is trying to come up now, but the horizon is so frozen it can't get through. (The high to day is only 25, so I think they know it isn't gonna make it.) Even though there isn't wind, you can see the trees shaking because the termites are shivering. I think I could wear my entire wardrobe today and not be warm.
~~~~~~
I always seem to be blessed with people confiding in me at the oddest times and the oddest bits of information. So, on that note, Happy Birthday. (you know who you are.)
~~~~~~
I don't know, I just think it is odd for a twenty something young man to be called grandpa. Call me crazy.
Umm...right, Ok?
Ok...so, how scared should I be that I got a special invitation to join the dean of men's coffee club? It probably won't be called that, but the idea remains that this is somewhat unsettling. And then promptly became one of the planning and graphic design staff. All I really wanted was a Dr Pepper, and here I am planning the fleecing of the masses with a bunch of scary guys. (Don't tell 'em I said that.)
{Although, it will be nice to return to my poor neglected graphic design and photo editing programs. They miss me. They keep sending me annoying emails and making stalking phone calls. The programs, that is, not the guys.}
Still, the question remains, do I actually want to associate with those types of people? I could be seriously damaging my “LazyPhilian” persona, and slipping further toward the V, S, T2 side of the spectrum. Not that that is a bad thing per se, but I may permanently skew my reputation. Just Kidding.
~~~~~~
Is there any more room in the clan for semi-not-legally-adopted-brothers? We are gonna have to invest in a bigger family album. Looks like MOTN is almost coming close to the goal of having "Kids" in every state of the union.

Know how some families you are actually born into? Mine you kinda join like you would the Marines.

Sploosh!

This was the weather yesterday...the day before that was warm and breezy.... but today, it is nasty, blustery and cold. And all that moisture in the air is starting to freeze and think it is snow. Plus we appear to have a forcast of 98% chance of high pain levels.
Not a happy day.
~~~~~~
On the plus side, there were no classes today, hence no homework due today. (Student Development Day) I think some of those poor kids might not ever get over that. Whereas, some of us practically went through Paramedic School with our mother, they are overly naïve and sheltered. Well, they were.
